Observing

Observe.

Before we can understand something, we have to look.

The sky changes colour. Plants grow towards the light. Seasons transform a landscape. Water shapes stone. And sometimes a different point of view is enough to make something ordinary suddenly interesting. Humans have always observed their surroundings. From this came knowledge and science, but also art and aesthetics. We discovered patterns, proportions, colours and forms — in nature as well as in things we created ourselves. A mechanical watch can therefore be more than a device for displaying time. A photograph can be more than a record of a moment. Architecture, machines and everyday objects tell us something about their era and the people who created them through material, construction and design.

Wood ages. Steel reflects its surroundings. Glass lets light pass through. A plant changes every day.

The world is full of details. They become interesting when we take the time to notice them.
